When building my pc do i keep the power into the wall outlet but with the psu turned of or do i take it out of the power completely putting the pc on the floor while using an esd wristrap.

Obviously it s bad if you have fans sucking.
Carpet generates a lot of static from people walking on it.
Hi i am waiting for my pc parts to come from newegg in about two days and i was wondering if i could build it on non shaggy carpet just flat i have an anti static wrist strap and i am also wondering what do i connect the clip too i heard that i connect my power supply to the wall but make sure.
It s generally not a good idea to put a pc tower directly on carpet for three reasons.

I mean i wouldn t recommend doing that but honestly all you really have to do is touch.
Even the first computer i got to post i build sitting on my wool carpet in my pajamas.
That static eventually dissipates but you don t want it zapping through a computer case.
What clothes would allow me to go down a slide and build up the least amount of static possible.
Instead of building a pc directly on your carpet you should build it on a desk and ensure you re not wearing extremely fuzzy socks or clothing that makes you shock things when you touch them.
Bind all the power cables coming out of the psu together and put them to one side.
I have had my pc on carpet for two years and had no problems.
